Freedom Mallows Vegetarian and Vegan Marshmallows | Review

Freedom Mallows Review

It has been a good few years since going vegetarian that I have not popped a marshmallow in my mouth, until a little while ago I stumbled across vegetarian friendly ones in Holland and Barrett!

These marshmallows are made by a company called Freedom Mallows and here is what they have to say about the mallows:

“Squeezed into every packet of Freedom Mallows is the great big warm feeling that you get as soon as you pop a marshmallow into your mouth. Full of natural flavours and colours, as soon as you start to chew, you’ll discover just how huggably special a taste it is, as your tastebuds enjoy a warm cuddle, full of mallowy melt-in-the-mouthiness.

When you enter the world of Mallows you will find that each gorgeously melt-in-the-mouth marshmallow is gelatine free, making it perfectly suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. And that’s not all! It is also gluten-free, dairy-free, fat-free, soy free, GMO free and nut-free, as well as not having any of those nasty additives and ickiness that many other sweet snacks have.

However you eat Freedom Mallows, that special Mallows feeling will always be there, ready for the next one to arrive.”

Now, these would seem like bold statements but I contest them all to be true! These are by far the tastiest veggie marshmallows.

Freedom Mallows
Yay!

They do a range of strawberry, vanilla and mini pink and white marshmallows which are all as equally delicious as each other. As you may have noticed there isn’t a picture of the vanilla ones in this post and that is because I *shamefully* could not wait to eat them before I photographed them.

Since my boyfriend has gone vegetarian he has been wanting to try a veggie friendly rocky road and the mini mallows are perfect for this usage. They also make a nice little treat in hot chocolate if you are feeling a bit luxurious.

Freedom Mallows
Nom nom nom nom

These marshmallows are egg free, dairy free, gluten free, gelatine free, artificial flavour and colour free, soy free, gmo free, nut free, and tree nut free! If you are wondering what is actually in these marshmallows I like to believe it’s fluffy clouds of love – but the actual ingredients can be found on the Freedom Mallows site.

Another thing I love about these tasty sweet treats is the packaging design. The sloth on the front is called Cedric (cute!) and he’s all fluffy and pink and spotty and soft (cute!). I love him.

If you’re vegetarian or vegan and have been missing the fluffiness of marshmallows, you have got to give Freedom Mallows a try. They are a little bit pricey at around £2.49 per bag, but they are definitely worth it, and a little bit of an increase in price is often expected with specialist foods.
