Fair Squared Cruelty Free and Vegan Skincare Review

Last week I was super excited to receive some goodies in the post from a brand called Fair Squared. As a leader of producing ethical cosmetics, Fair Squared is certified by Fairtrade, Natrue, PETA, and the Vegan Society.

Straight off the bat, I was impressed with the packaging. It is 100% recyclable including the outer cardboard packaging and the product containers themselves are also recyclable.

Fair Squared describes themselves as a alternative trade organisation. This means they deal with producers from the world’s poorest countries in which the producers are paid fairly, and then they offer high quality, ethically conscious products to customers.

Argan Facial Cream – Light (£12.95)

The Argan Facial Cream comes in three different intensities. Rich, for mature and/or dry skin, medium, for normal to combination skin, and light which is the one I tested out. The light cream is recommended for young skin, sensitive skin and even slightly oily skin.

This product protects the skin on your face from becoming dry and free radicals. It contains aloe vera, vitamin E, and apricot kernel oil.

The apricot kernel oil comes from Pakistan, in particular the valleys of the Karakoram and Himalayan mountains. The argan oil is sourced from Morocco by Tighanimine – a women’s cooperative which was the first of its kind to be certified Fairtrade. Furthermore, the cooperative gives Moroccan women an opportunity to earn an income and be part of a positive movement.

I really like this face cream, it comes in a hygienic pump bottle which is great and it smells nice too. The argan oil smells slightly like an aniseed and I can liked it to cola bottle sweeties (gelatine free ones of course!) It absorbs into the skin really well and doesn’t feel like a slippery mask. It’s also very unexpectedly smoothing, almost like a very light primer!

Green Tea Body Lotion – Light (£14.45)

Next up is the Green Tea Body Lotion. The green tea is sourced from India from the Darjeeling region. The tea is supplied to Fair Squared by a company called Ambootia, which is certified organic and biodynamic. As a skincare ingredient, tea is though to be revitalising.

This moisturiser doesn’t smell like green tea. I know that scent isn’t to everybody’s taste but I personally really like it. Instead, smells a bit fruity but not overly sweet. There are four other body lotions, including coffee, lime, vanilla, coconut and cacao.

The green tea lotion is light and absorbs easily into the skin, it doesn’t feel at all heavy or sticky. This moisturiser is light and I think it would be great for normal skin. I personally have very dry skin so it hasn’t done a bad job at making my skin feel a little more soft.

Almond Hand Cream (£8.95)

Finally I got to test out the Almond Hand Cream which smells really good! I find that lots of hand creams have too stronger scent and this one just smells nice and clean. It has made my hands really smooth and (hooray) it doesn’t take forever to absorb into my hands, unlike some creams which just seem to give your hands a weird, greasy barrier. I can’t really smell the almond but that might just be me.

The almond oil is sourced from Pakistan like the apricot kernel oil. It also contains olive oil which is harvested from olives in Palestine and is sourced by Canaan fair-trade olive oil.

Summary

I completely recommend Fair Squared as a brand. Ethically, the brand has gone above and beyond to provide responsibly sourced ingredients, helping communities and the environment. The pricing is affordable, considering the fair-trade responsibilities of the company and the quality of ingredients.

Furthermore, they provide products that take into consideration different skin types and textures to really use the ingredients to the fullest extent. If you’re looking for a new go-to brand for your everyday skincare, definitely check out what Fair Squared have got to offer!
